Our client is a UK-based couture brand that specialises in one-of-a-kind, easy to drape sarees. With an average price of 300 GBP per piece, each saree is a collectible piece designed for discerning, global clientele, primarily women of South Asian origin who value cultural heritage, craftsmanship and exclusivity.
With a deep understanding of fabric, draping and luxury styling, the founder built the brand through high-touch interactions. Prospective buyers were either invited to an in-person appointment at the UK studio or taken through a one-on-one WhatsApp video consultation where the sarees would be draped live, either on the customer (in-person) or on the founder herself (virtually). This model, while intimate and effective, was highly dependent on the founder’s time and energy.
Unfortunately, the founder experienced a prolonged illness that left her unable to conduct these physically and emotionally demanding appointments. While our digital marketing efforts on Meta and Google Ads continued to generate strong leads, sales were stagnating due to the broken link between lead generation and conversion. Without the live appointments, potential customers were unable to complete their purchases, and the brand was losing revenue daily. 4 months went by without a single sale.
Moreover, the brand’s clientele consisted of premium, busy women, often in their late 30s to 60s, who were not necessarily tech-savvy or inclined to navigate complex e-commerce platforms. Implementing a full-fledged website was not a feasible solution at this stage given both the founder's condition and the user behaviour of the target audience. We needed the conversion now, immediately.
Our Solution: A Low-Tech, High-Impact Sales Funnel
We needed to rethink the brand’s sales funnel—keeping it minimal-effort for the founder and intuitive for the customers. Rather than recommend a standard website build like most agencies would, we took a culturally-informed, personalised approach and introduced a two-step, lightweight solution using just Google Drive and Topmate.
Step 1: Simplifying Content Creation
We asked the founder to record short videos, each showcasing a single saree being draped on herself. This had to be done only once per saree. The videos were sent to us, and we took over from there.
Step 2: Organised Digital Display
We structured the Google Drive folders with clear price-based segregation, ensuring customers could browse collections easily, without feeling overwhelmed.
Step 3: Streamlining Discovery and Booking
Instead of sharing her WhatsApp number, we helped the founder set up a Topmate profile—a tool that allows people to book short calls. Topmate also supports a structured call experience and prevents the overwhelm of back-and-forth scheduling. For our needs, the free plan worked perfectly.
One-hour decision window: Upon booking, customers received the meeting link, in the meeting they were given the Drive link to browse. During the call, they were required to finalise and make the payment within the hour, creating urgency and preventing duplicate interest in rare pieces. The emotional connection and premium service were retained, without the physical exhaustion of traditional styling sessions.
